Royal Kingdom Of Bhutan -- Bumthang

"Bumthang" directly translates as "beautiful field". It is the most historic place if the number of ancient temples and sacred sites are taken into consideration. It consists of the four mountain valleys of Ura, Chumey, Tang and Choekhor, generally the entire district is referred to as Bumthang valley. Places of interest in Bumthang are Membar Tsho (Burning Lake), Kurje Monastery, Jambay Lhakhang (ancient Temple), Tamshing (Nyingmapa temple) and Jakar Dzong, adjacent to the main town of Jakar, the administrative headquarters of Bumthang District.
